Staff Robotics Engineer (L6) – RADD Co
RADD Co | Remote (U.S.) | Defense Technology | Acoustic c-UAS
Location: Remote (U.S.-based)
Travel: Up to 25% (flexible)
Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship required
Clearance: Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance (active clearance preferred)
The Mission
RADD Co is redefining battlefield awareness through advanced acoustic sensing and sensor fusion. We empower warfighters in the world’s most dangerous environments with actionable intelligence—when it matters most.
Our systems detect and track real-time aerial threats at the tactical edge using ultra-low-power sensors and fusion devices.
We are looking for a Staff Robotics Engineer—a "T-shaped" generalist with broad impact across the entire stack, who can solve technical challenges that have a direct, life-saving impact. This is a role for an action-oriented builder who thrives on the "hardware-software divide".
The Role
As an Individual Contributor, you are responsible for the technical integrity of the entire signal path. You will ensure that our sensors, software, and algorithms work in concert to solve high-stakes detection problems in real-world conditions.
End-to-End Execution: Drive the development of low-latency, high-reliability systems for edge deployment—from low-level hardware control on microcontrollers to system-level performance on edge-compute platforms.
Cross-System Architecture: Architect solutions that span the stack, optimizing the interplay between hardware constraints, algorithms, and performance. Integrate with upstream C2 and counter measure systems.
Hardware-Software Integration: Work across the boundary to integrate new platforms, validate peripherals, and push physical hardware to its theoretical limits.
Tactical Resilience: Build robust, field-ready systems that can survive the constraints of low-bandwidth, high-interference, and power-limited environments.
Real-World Deployment: Drive high-fidelity validation of our systems in operational environments. You will observe system performance firsthand to bridge the gap between lab assumptions and tactical ground-truth.
Required Experience
Success in this role requires a baseline of "full-stack" robotics maturity and high-stakes execution:
Depth: 7+ years shipping complex robotics, aerospace, or defense systems. You provide technical clarity in ambiguous situations and set a high bar for engineering excellence.
Proficiency: Expert-level in C/C++ for resource-constrained systems and Python for data pipelines, and tooling.
Hardware Fluency: Comfortable reading schematics, using logic analyzers, and debugging serial buses. You understand how physical environments break software.
Operational Grit: A proven track record of shipping and supporting hardware in the field. You’ve seen your code break in the mud and fixed it.
Technical Specialties
We value engineers who see the whole system and can dive deep into specific domains. We require proven competency in several of the following:
Embedded Systems: High-performance development for bare-metal or RTOS-based microcontrollers.
Estimation & Sensor Fusion: Practical application of Kalman Filters, coordinate transforms, and state estimation in noisy environments.
ML, Deep Learning, or IR: Built and evaluated detection or retrieval models using rigorous metrics, training workflows, and automated pipelines. Applied the full lifecycle from data collection and EDA, to feature engineering, training, and deployment.
DSP & Signal Processing: Designing and implementing real-time filters and processing pipelines for acoustic or time-series data.
Hardware Integration: Experience developing drivers and logic for digital/analog sensors and communication peripherals.
Distributed Systems & Networking: Proficiency in distributed systems, low-latency data transport, mesh networking, and low-bandwidth wireless protocols.
Why You’re the Right Fit
You think in systems, not silos. You thrive in small, elite teams where ownership is absolute and there is always a critical mission to achieve. You aren't interested in "tried-and-true" solutions; you are motivated by the opportunity to define a new category of technology and see your work perform in the mud, the wind, and the field.
Why RADD?
Build life-saving technology for operators in real-world conflict zones
Define a new category in acoustic counter-UAS sensing
Own the decision advantage hardware layer
Join at the ground floor and shape the company’s future
Work on problems where performance matters—and failure is not an option
