Staff Electro-Mechanical Engineer, NPI (L6) – RADD Co
RADD Co | Remote (U.S.) | Defense Technology | Acoustic c-UAS
Location: Remote (U.S.-based)
Travel: Up to 25% (flexible)
Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship required
Clearance: Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance (active clearance preferred)
The Mission
RADD Co is redefining battlefield awareness through advanced acoustic sensing and sensor fusion. We empower warfighters in the world’s most dangerous environments with actionable intelligence—when it matters most. Our systems detect and track real-time aerial threats at the tactical edge using ultra-low-power sensors and fusion devices.
We are looking for a Staff Electro-Mechanical Engineer—a high-level Individual Contributor to be the technical anchor for our hardware as we move from functional prototypes to intermediate-scale manufacturing. You will be responsible for ensuring our designs are not just functional, but can be built by the thousands with high reliability.
The Role
This is a role for an experienced builder who excels at the bench and possesses the technical rigor required to move hardware into the hands of customers at scale.
New Product Introduction: You will lead the NPI phase, taking functional prototypes of complex sensing systems and translate them into hardened designs ready for production by the thousand. You will partner with our third-party manufacturers to refine and iterate designs.
Design Assets: You will own the Master CAD and Bill of Materials (BOM), ensuring every design choice is documented and repeatable. You are responsible for documenting and preserving the assets, design logic, processes and know-how generated during development, ensuring RADD Co maintains a deep, autonomous understanding of our own hardware stacks.
Verification: You will develop sub-component verification tests that prove our hardware works as designed before it hits the field, as well as diagnostic tools and processes that enable our Operations team to verify hardware health independently.
Prototyping Support: You will support next-generation component prototypes, including advanced radios, antennas, and sensing arrays. Suitable local bench facilities provided.
Required Experience
Depth: 7+ years of experience in hardware development, mechatronics, or related with a track record of company-scale impact. You have successfully taken products from a functional prototype through to mid-to-high volume manufacturing.
Mechanical Fluency: Expert-level proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks , NX, or equivalent) and a deep understanding of ruggedized design (thermal, ingress, shock, vibration, EMI).
Electrical Proficiency: Strong Electrical Engineering fundamentals. You are comfortable with schematic capture, PCB layout, and debugging complex hardware-software interfaces at the component level.
Design for Manufacturing: Practical, hands-on experience implementing DFM, DFA, and DFT at scale. You understand how to design for a manufacturing environment where reliability must be maintained across thousands of units. Experience working with contract manufacturers and supply chains.
Preferred Experience
This role requires proven competency in several of the following:
Analog Sensing: Experience integrating high-performance acoustic (or similar) sensors or arrays while maintaining signal integrity in electronically noisy environments.
RF & Comms: Experience prototyping and integrating radios, antennas, or high-performance wireless systems.
Regulatory & Compliance: Experience navigating FCC, MIL-STD-810, or similar hardening and certification processes.
Functional Testing: Experience building hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) or functional test fixtures for sub-component verification and early factory-floor validation.
Why You’re the Right Fit
You think in systems, not silos. You thrive in small, elite teams where ownership is absolute and there is always a critical mission to achieve. You aren't interested in "tried-and-true" solutions; you are motivated by the opportunity to define a new category of technology and see your work perform in the mud, the wind, and the field.
Why RADD?
Build life-saving technology for operators in real-world conflict zones
Define a new category in acoustic counter-UAS sensing
Own the decision advantage hardware layer
Join at the ground floor and shape the company’s future
Work on problems where performance matters—and failure is not an option
